Once a year, The New School of Monmouth County invites those graduates currently attending high school to come "home" for an important visit. These evenings are always interesting, but also always exciting and satisfying, as the unique qualities and wonderful self-images of our graduates are shared with all who attend. The poise, openness, self-confidence and energy of these young people speaks for the school, its philosophy and its success. Our director always comments, "If there is one meeting in the year that I wish all parents could attend, it would be our Graduate Night - the time when New School graduates share their high school experiences ."
Attending Graduate Night really is the best way to see for yourself how The New School prepares children not only for high school, but for life. At Graduate Night, we hear in their own words what happens to our graduates once they take the natural steps toward adult life after leaving the unique, exciting and enriching environment of The New School. The skills learned here prepare them not only to face a different school environment, but because they have learned how to learn, how to interact with their peers and how to solve problems, they have a self-confidence which prepares them to adapt to all new situations.
Graduate Night holds special rewards for all of us: We all witness how our students manage in the world; current parents can find encouragement and validation; teachers can relish the joys of their students; current students can realize shining examples for their own futures; and of course, the returning students, themselves, can reminisce and offer us their reflections and their truths about growing up with The New School. It is impossible to capture the full essence of such a meeting without being there!
Graduate Night is usually held on an evening in February or March. Prospective parents and others interested in attending may call the school for details and to register to attend. Our next Graduate Night is scheduled for:
