Portfolio Assessment

New School High School is unique in that it does not have a traditional grading and testing system.  Instead, we evaluate student progress through the use of individual portfolios.  These portfolios are a compilation of a student's work throughout the year.  Students meet with their teachers regularly to assess their portfolio work and to develop a plan for the future.  In addition, three times a year, teachers meet with parents to discuss their child's progress.

Graduation Requirements

Graduation from NSHS is based on the student's ability to defend his qualifications for graduation.  Students must complete and present an expository paper demonstrating their academic and social accomplishments.  This paper is presented to a panel of students, teachers, and community members for review in the spring of the graduating student's senior year.
